Lamb & Potato
For this main dish you need: diced lamb, potatoes and carrots. Just before feeding, add salmon oil and BARF supplement powder. Time needed: about 10 min prep and 30 min cooking. How many grams of each ingredient your dog gets depends on weight, age and activity – the DoggoMeal app works that out.

Important for main dishes: meat, a side and vegetables alone won't cover your dog's needs in the long run. Just before feeding, add an oil and a mineral and vitamin supplement to every portion, following the instructions on the pack. You can check whether the ration as a whole is right in the Food Check.
Method
Step 1: Prepare
- Make sure the diced lamb is boneless.
- If there are any harder bits or pieces of bone in there after all, remove them first.
- If your dog is sensitive to fattier meat, you can trim off some of the visible fat.
Step 2: Prepare the potatoes & carrots
- Peel the potatoes or wash them very thoroughly, then cut them into bite-sized cubes.
- Thinly peel the carrots if you like and cut them into suitably small pieces.
- For small dogs or dogs that gulp their food, cut everything smaller so it can be eaten more safely.
Tip: Always cook potatoes all the way through, and never use any green parts or sprouts.
Step 3: Put everything in the pot
- Put the potatoes, carrots and lamb into an ordinary saucepan, a steamer or a multicooker.
- Cover with water and stir once.
Step 4: Cook
- Bring to the boil once, then let it simmer gently until the lamb is cooked through and the potatoes are soft.
- By the end, the potatoes should mash easily with a fork.
- Don't cook it with any spices, salt, oil or butter.
Step 5: Portion out
- First weigh out the lamb pieces as specified in your recipe.
- Then add the potatoes and carrots to match.
- If the meat is very tender, you can break up larger pieces a little now.
Step 6: Store
- 3-day option: keep in portions in the fridge.
- 10-day option: freeze in portions.
- Thaw frozen portions slowly in the fridge.
Step 7: Serve & add supplements
- Put the portion in the bowl.
- Add the salmon oil and the BARF/mineral/vitamin complete supplement just before feeding, following the instructions on the pack.
- If the portion comes straight from the fridge, a small splash of hot water helps.
Tip: Lots of dogs find lamb really exciting, but not every dog is used to it straight away. Keep a close eye on your dog for the first few days whenever you introduce a new protein.
