Beef & Millet
For this main dish you need: beef, millet and courgette. Just before feeding, add salmon oil and BARF supplement powder. Time needed: about 10 min prep and 25 min cooking. How many grams of each ingredient your dog gets depends on weight, age and activity – the DoggoMeal app works that out.

Important for main dishes: meat, a side and vegetables alone won't cover your dog's needs in the long run. Just before feeding, add an oil and a mineral and vitamin supplement to every portion, following the instructions on the pack. You can check whether the ration as a whole is right in the Food Check.
Method
Step 1: Prepare
- Make sure the diced beef is boneless.
- Ideally cut it into fairly small cubes so it softens faster and is easier to portion out later.
Tip: The smaller you cut the beef, the faster it becomes tender.
Step 2: Prepare the millet & courgette
- Rinse the millet thoroughly with warm water in a fine sieve.
- Wash the courgette, trim the ends and cut it into suitable pieces.
- For small dogs or dogs that gulp their food, cut everything smaller so it can be eaten more safely.
Tip: The millet should be really soft by the end. Half-cooked, it is much less pleasant for many dogs.
Step 3: Put everything in the pot
- Put the millet, courgette and beef into the rice cooker pot or an ordinary saucepan.
- Cover with water and stir once.
Step 4: Cook
- Start the rice cooker, or bring to the boil once in a pot and then let it simmer gently.
- Beef often takes a little longer than poultry. By the end, it should be really tender and cooked right through.
- Don't cook it with any spices, salt, oil or butter.
Step 5: Portion out
- First weigh out the beef as specified in your recipe.
- Then add the millet and courgette mixture to match.
- If any larger pieces are still too chunky, you can break them up further now.
Step 6: Store
- 3-day option: keep in portions in the fridge.
- 10-day option: freeze in portions.
- Thaw frozen portions slowly in the fridge.
Step 7: Serve & add supplements
- Put the portion in the bowl.
- Add the salmon oil and the BARF/mineral/vitamin complete supplement just before feeding, following the instructions on the pack.
- If the portion comes straight from the fridge, a small splash of hot water helps.
Tip: With soft-cooked beef in particular, it's worth portioning carefully so the meat and the side really match the amounts in your recipe.
